Celebrities With Homes In Toronto

Canada has strong representation in the entertainment industry, both here and abroad. There are many celebrities that you'd never guess are Canadian. Many of these celebrities come from small towns across the country. It's pretty typical for entertainers who make it big is to pack up and move to New York or Los Angeles, but not everyone follows that rule. There are even some Americans who have chosen to make Toronto their home. The following is a list of famous entertainers who have or had homes in Toronto.

 

Rachel McAdams

McAdams keeps her personal life very private, and you won't find her on any social media accounts. McAdams became famous for her roll in Mean Girls star, and has been in many major motion pictures since then, was born in London, Ontario, now lives in Toronto while raising her son with boyfriend, Jamie Linden.

 
 

Drake

Since first being recognized for his role on the highly successful television series Degrassi: The Next Generation, and going on the road with rap star Lil Wayne after hearing Drake’s music in the summer of 2008, Drake has asserted himself as a trailblazer in the creative world. Drake released his mixtape So Far Gone in 2009 and his massive influence in the hip-hop and contemporary music space has commanded the market since, with no end in sight. Drake now holds the record for the most number one hits on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Chart.

 
 

Shawn Mendes

Singer Shawn Mendes recently made the move from his Pickering childhood home to a condo in Toronto. Fans were fortunate to get a sneak peek into the the pop star's Toronto condo when his Netflix documentary In Wonder was released in November. His home is in the core of the city where a lot of Toronto's younger celebrities live.

 
 

Dan Levy

The award-winning director, producer, writer and actor was born and raised in Toronto. The former MTV Canada host was splitting his time between Toronto and L.A. prior to the pandemic, but he chose to hunker down in his hometown to be with his family throughout the challenging times.

Margaret Atwood

Canadian author Margaret Atwood has lived in Toronto since she graduated from the University of Toronto. While she remained in Toronto, her housing choices definitely became more upscale. She lives with her husband in the Annex, not far from Rachel McAdams!

 
 

Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg  is an American actor, producer, restaurateur and former rapper. He also splits his time between Los Angeles and his home in Toronto. He owns a penthouse suite at the Hazelton Hotel in Yorkville. His condo is surrounded by Toronto's elite shops and restaurants.

 
 

Prince

Though the former pop icon is no longer with us, back in the early 2000s Prince called Toronto's Bridle Path home. His huge mansion had six bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a massive chef’s kitchen, tennis court, pool, heated cabana and – of course - a purple room.

 
 

Mike Myers

Mike Myers is a Canadian-born actor, comedian, director, producer and screenwriter. He is known for his run as a performer on Saturday Night Live from 1989 to 1995 and for playing the title roles in the Wayne's World, Austin Powers and Shrek film franchises.

According to The Toronto Star, Mike Myers lived at 3120 Sheppard Ave. E. when he was 18 years old. The house apparently served as inspiration in creating the suburban environments in Wayne's World.

 
 

Lorne Michaels

The creative genius behind Saturday Night Live grew up in Toronto's Cedarvale area, according to The Toronto Star, not far from Drake's former Forest Hill stomping grounds. In fact, Michaels got his start in writing at the CBC.

 
 

The Weeknd

 Abel Tesfaye, otherwise known as The Weeknd, has spoken out about his tough upbringing in Scarborough. He moved to Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhood when he was a teenager, and the wild parties he threw at his former home inspired his debut album House of Balloons.

 
 

Elton John

While Elton John doesn't live right in Toronto, he does live on the outskirts which gets him a better view of the city. He can see the entire skyline from his Stouffville mansion! While the home isn't overly extravagant on the outside, the interior is beautiful! The singer and his Canadian husband David Furnish also own a large amount of land around the property.
